Lose Weight Quick – Here’s How It’s Done

| |

What’s the best kind of food to lose weight?

What if I told you I could give you a pill that will make you lose 30 pounds a week, but you have an 85% of developing heart disease in 15 years. Would you take the pill?

Sadly, many of us would. We want to lose weight, and we want to lose weight quick. Damn the consequences.

The good news for those who want to lose weight quickly, is that it can definitely be done. It can wreak havoc on your metabolism and the rest of your health, but if you go on one of the many starvation diets out there today, you can lose an ungodly amount of weight in a very short time.

You might be saying, “I hate fat so much, I just want it gone as soon as possible.” Well, that creates a whole new monster. This monster will not just go away in a week or two no matter what kind of starvation diet you’re using. Why not?

Well, according to most experts, a healthy weight loss target to shoot for is about 1% of your current bodyweight per week. So, if you weight 200 pounds, losing 2 pounds a week could be considered healthy.

It would also be considered fat loss. These same weight loss experts say that if you lose more than 1% of your bodyweight per week, you’re really not losing fat. You’re burning muscle. This is exactly what you DON’T want. Why not?

Because your metabolism is directly connected to the ratio of muscle to fat in your body. The less muscle you have, the more fat you have, and your metabolism takes a nose dive.

Yes, you might weigh less, but in reality you’re fatter. Your skin is loose, and you don’t have the energy you once had. You’re unhealthier. You feel worse than you did when you were fat.

With healthy weight loss, moderation is definitely the key. Why? If you don’t cut enough calories from your diet you won’t lose anything, but if you cut too much, you won’t stay with your meal plan. Which brings me to another point.

When contemplating a new meal plan or diet, it’s important that you ask yourself if you could stay on this meal plan forever. If you can’t it’s probably not right for you.

It’s important to keep in mind that a diet should not be a temporary change in behavior, but a permanent lifestyle change. This doesn’t mean you have to give up your favorite foods or anything like that. In fact, if you feel deprived on your diet, you should find another diet, one that’s not so strict.

In this context, the word “quick” is very relative. I would never advise someone to lose 15 or 20 pounds in a week. Yes, I’ve seen it done, and I’ve also seen people get pretty sick. And, of all the people I’ve seen lose weight that quickly every single one of them gained all of it back plus some within a year of losing it.

This should be extra motivation for losing weight sensibly.
